This weekend I had the opportunity to visit Willow Creek Farms, a 200-acre residential development on the western edge of Katy. With nearly 550 homes completed, many of the builders are entering their close out phase, with only a few lots and inventory homes remaining. Having only begun site work a little over 2-years ago, this neighborhood has been a perfect example of the Katy area’s rapid growth.
On my way out of the neighborhood, I couldn’t help but notice a sign for a new development coming soon. After doing a bit of research and speaking with some representatives from the projected builders, I have learned that Young Ranch will be a development of approximately 500 acres. Home sites are anticipated to range from 50 foot lots to 80 feet, indicating a healthy mix of base prices. The first phase of construction, forecast for the fall of 2015, will include homes by seasoned Houston builders Beazer, Ryland & M/I Homes.
Also, another nearby community that is coming soon will be the much talked about Cane Island development in west Katy. With a development of over 1,000 acres, Cane Island will feature home sites ranging from 45-75 feet, as well as a neighborhood rec center with pools, fitness area, a community garden, walking trails around community lakes, and an amphitheater with cafe. When completed, the Cane Island model park will feature 13 different model homes. The first model homes are anticipated to open to guests is the spring of 2015.
